Setting the boot
sequence:-
To start installation
from DVD or CD we need to setup the BIOS
First boot device CD/DVD ROM
Second boot device Hard disk
Installation:-
If the installation is
done using DVD a single DVD is required.If the installation done using CDs then
5 CDs are required
Installation can be
done in 2 modes
· Graphical user interface(GUI) Mode
· Text Mode
Installation steps
Insert the DVD or the first CD and restart the
system
At "boot:" prompt press enter to
start installation in GUI mode
· Now the welcome screen will be appeared.
· Click next and select the installation
language as English
· Click next and select keyboard as U.S.English
.
· Click next to select Basic storage device.
· Click next and select Fresh installation.
· Click next and enter the host name(for ex:-IT.example.com).
· Click next and select the nearest time
zone.
· Click next and enter root password and confirm
password
· click next and select Use all space type of
installation from the list appeared
· click next ,then an pop-up window appeared
.click on the write changes to disk on the writing storage configuration to
disk
· click next and select a different set of
software that you required.by default installation of RHEL is default
installation.
· Click next ,then the installation of packages
will start.
· After completion of packages installation
click on reboot button.
· After reboot welcome screen will be appeared
,click on forward button.
· Now accept the license and click on forward
button.
· Now setup the software updates(inorder
to setup we need a network connection) and click forward button.
· Now create a system user and click forward
button.
· Now setup the date and time then click on
forward button
· Now uncheck the enable kdumb and reboot the
system
· The installation process is completed.Now you
can login as root with the password given during the installation.
