ACTIVE DIRECTORY
- Active directory is directory service which contains information of all user accounts and shared resource
- on a network
- Active directory is an centralized hierarchical directory database
- It provides user logon and authentication services using Kerberos protocol
- Enables authorized users to easily locate Network resources
Steps to install Active Directory
- Type dcpromo command in the run command.
- Select advance check box.
- Next page show you operating system compatibility keep it unchanged and click next button.
- On the choose a deployment configuration page ,select create a new domain in a new forest and then click next.
- On the name the forest root domain page ,give name to the domain (ex:-example.com) and then click next .the system performs a check to ensure that the DNS and NetBIOS names for the forest are not already in use on network.
- In set forest functional level page ,select windows server 2003 and click next.
- If we want to install DNS select DNS check box and click next.
- Click yes and again click yes.
- Now it will show database folder,Logfiles and SYSVOL page ,acept default locations and click next
- On the directory services restore mode administration password page ,type a strong password in the both password and confirmed password boxes and then click next.
- click next then next and select reboot on completion check box.
- Configuration of AD DS begins.The server will require a reboot when the process is completed.
