Installation of File Services role
In order to share the filles, folders
data among the computers that are connected in a network we have to enable the
File Services role.
Adding the File Services role not only
configures settings to optimize the system for file sharing, but also enables
the administrator to choose which file server options as well as which tools
for managing the file system will be installed.
To install the File Services role,
perform the following steps:
Go to the Server Manager > On the
left column select Roles and in the main window area click on Add Roles
In the Add Roles Wizard under Server
Roles put a check in the checkbox under File Services
Now under Files Services > Role
Services select the services that you want to install under File Services. Select
the following and click next:
1. File Server
2. Distributed File System, DFS Namespaces and DFS Replication
3. File Server Resource Manager
4. Services for Network File System (This is useful if you will have linux users on the network)
5. File Replication Service (if it is available)

On the Set Report Options screen,
choose the location at which storage reports will be saved. The default
location is C:\StorageReports. Optionally, if e-mailed usage reports are
desired, provide the information requested.
If the Windows Search Service is
selected, as it has been in this example, select the volumes that should be
indexed. The Search service makes finding files much easier.
On the confirmation window, click
the Install button to install the File Services role with the specified
options.
